Basti's into beyblades lately. His dad bought him the beyblades (i think pegasis and ldrago are their names) and an arena, coupled with a few accessories.
Last Saturday, we went to Toy's are Us in Shangri-la to look for a specific kind of beyblade. When we arrived, we saw the long line of kids with their beyblades and launchers, with their moms and dads on the side. Apparently there's an ongoing registration for a tournament, the 2nd to the last before the grand tournament on December 5 @ SM MOA. Basti wanted to already join, but we didn't get there until about 2pm and the game's already about to start. We promised him that we will go back the next day so he can join.
When we got home, Basti with his Dad started "training" for the next day's challenge. Even Cj, my daughter, got into the groove and started to challenge his brother to help him prep for the actual tourney.
Sunday came and we went back early at Shang to register. Basti's so excited!
Here's his stash of beyblades, launchers and accessories.
There were about 50+ kids and there will be four who will advance to the grand tournament. Here's some of the parents accompanying their kids.
Here's Aj, Cj and Basti joining the "festivities".
And here's me...waiting.
The game's about to start. Basti was a picture of coolness and composure... I'm so proud. Aj, Cj and I were pretty excited. I'm actually quite nervous (stage mom eh).
Then it was on.
Basti nailed the first round: 2-0 and advanced to the next round. He was ecstatic. We were ecstatic!
Then it was time for the second round. Unfortunately, it was a 2-0 for Basti's opponent. As a true sportsman, my son extended his hand and congratulated the winner.
It was okay, it was his first time and he did good. He's excited to practice so that by next year he can join again and hopefully, advance to the finals.
