animated short films

Pixar officially introduced me to animated short films. I enjoy watching these short films with my son: Day and Night, Lifted, Partly Cloudy, For The Birds, One Man Band, Presto -- are just some that I like and tend to watch over and over again.

I was able to chance upon these three short films and I totally like :)

French Roast
In a fancy Parisian Cafe´ c.1960, an uptight businessman discovers he forgot to bring his wallet and bides his time by ordering more coffee.  He constantly turns away a homeless man who asks him for money, but in the end, due to a curious turn of events, it is the homeless man who in unselfish enough to pay the businessman's bill thus saving him from embarrassment.

Oktapodi
Is about a pair of love struck octopuses who through a series of comical events are separated and find each other.

Alarm
Is about a person who doesn't want to wake up in the morning but knows that he has to. So he plants several alarm clocks in conspicuous places to help him wake up.

new balance running green -- like :)

loving these fruity sticky notes :)

I'm smelling nectarine blossom and honey in the air

love these

green roof

I want to be as eco-friendly as possible -- easier said than done.

I keep recyclable bags in the car so that when I do my groceries, i wouldn't have to use so much plastic bags.  Unfortunately, I almost always forget these bags are in the car.  So I end up using the grocery plastic bags :(

My dream is to have a green roof.  I'm an avid follower of Cecile Van Straten's blog -- chuvaness -- and I totally envy her house.  She was able to create a garden on her roof.  Helps in cooling her house during the hot and humid summer months, as well as helps bring down her Meralco bill.  I wish I could do that to my roof as well.

I'm wishing for something like this.

Or this.

Someday...soon...I will have this.

our taylor swift date

My daughter, Cj, is crazy about Taylor Swift. So when she learned Taylor's coming over to Manila for a 1 night concert, she knew she's going to be there.  We started looking for tickets as early as December... well I guess it was not early enough because we were only able to get tickets on January -- only available then -- 2 upper box b tickets worth P1,590 each.

Off we went to the concert.

The ticket says 8pm and I knew that 8pm is actually 9pm, so I wasn't in a hurry to leave the house. We left at around 6pm and arrived at Araneta around 7 (because of the usual Saturday traffic).  We immediately saw the long and winding line to the entrance.  It actually took us almost an hour to get inside.

When we were already inside, the upper box b, along with the other spaces, are full to its capacity -- it was SRO.  We were quite lucky, considering how "late" we arrived to stand near the railings of the stairs and get a good view of the stage.

As we were settling down (or should I say 'settling up') the front act -- Sam Concepcion -- started doing his thing.  Of course the audience -- mostly girls, ages toddler (I think as early as 3yo) to teens were there to see Taylor and no one else. I get the feeling that they just scream at Sam so that he can get done with his performance and Taylor can begin hers.

After 5 songs (I think), Sam finally said his thank you.  And the girls got wild.  The screams are defeaning! And they were all screaming "Taylor! Taylor!".  Unfortunately, they had to wait for almost an hour until the lights dimmed and there was an unmistakable silhouette at the stage, and I felt that the whole of Araneta trembled because of the screams from these girls.  Cj's palm was sweaty with excitement, she does not seem to mind that it was cramped from where we're standing and we have been standing for a long time already -- my legs are starting to hurt. I kept on 'boxing out the people' around us so that they will not cramp my daughter more.  I wanted her to feel as comfortable as possible given the limited space we have.

Cj had a blast. She sang with Taylor together with the thousands more at Araneta.  She was thrilled to see Taylor in person and ecstatic to be watching her perform live.

It was not the most comfortable situation -- the standing, the jostling, the noise, the hurting legs and feet -- but I would go through it again and again if it will make Cj happy.

This was Taylor's crowd.

Took a photo of Cj before we left the house.

'Till our next date :)
