law breakers

I was on my way to the office, early in the morning, when i saw this two policemen riding a motorcycle without their helmets on.

Last I heard it is a law to wear helmets for all motorcycle drivers and their passengers at all times. Gloria Arroyo signed the Mandatory Helmet Act of 2010 that imposes stiff penalties on violators (at least we can count this 1 good thing she did during her administration).

Republic Act 10054, authored by Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr., is aimed at protecting motorcycle drivers, their passengers, as well as pedestrians from injuries and death in accidents.

Under the law, those who will be caught not wearing protective helmets face a minimum fine of P1,500 and a maximum penalty of P10,000.

But how is this? These policemen are supposed to look for violators of this law and yet they are the first to violate. Simple laws, easy-to-understand rules. And yet, those who are supposed to uphold and implement are the first ones to violate. Sad. They certainly are not setting a good example.
